![]() The book "The Hollywood Commandments" by New York Times Bestselling Author, Devon Franklin with Tim Vandehey, is a must read for every believer, at least in my opinion. As the subtitle says, it is a spiritual guide to secular success. Many believers separate spiritual from secular so every time we are faced with certain decisions we, most of the time associate secular with anti-spiritual. What I am trying to say is that we put a wall between spiritual and secular and once a believers face tough times in the secular world, they accept as part of being part of that world. I respect the stand that Devon Franklin made in his life by recognizing his calling eve though the church world, the spiritual world around him, did the best to stop him from pursuing his passion in Hollywood. Yes, it could be a dangerous ground where fame, competition and creativity are the back bone of entertainment and the celebrity world but at the same time, if none of us, the believers, are in those Hollywood mountains then who is going to speak to those mountains. Who is going to make a difference to those mountains? Devon Franklin championed many box-office hits, including The Pursuit of Happyness, The Karate Kid, Jumping the Broom, and Heaven Is For Real. DeVon also produced the hit film, Miracles From Heaven.Do you notice that many of these movies are based on faith content! You will really enjoy my favorite chapters like "What the church doesn't teach you about success", Your prayers alone aren't enough", "Your gut is hiding God" and "Your difference is you destiny". Devon shared his life lessons and mistakes that he made to be where he is today. As much as he focused on being the best on what he does, he clearly stated that all of those achievements could have not been possible if not for the grace of God. Guys, please get the book, hardcopy or ebook and read it. You will be blessed. Especially if you are not sure of your calling. Recently, my wife and I, met a young man. He bought my book "Uncensored Truth about Money" and we had a discussion. He was a brilliant engineer when he was working, then he quit his job, started network marketing business and doing so so...maybe at survival mode. He felt strongly about serving in church in worship ministry and that is fine but he was not sure of his calling. My wife had a strong word for him that he could develop some breakthrough solution in engineering. He took a long pause. This guys was really good yah. He shared with us what he had done but he feels uncomfortable committing to the secular world. Many youngsters are going through this cross roads of full time ministry, or secular job, business etc. I hope the church will be the instrument to guide and send the people in the marketplace. The marketplace needs believers who are anointed and blessed to share how good our God is. Be blessed! Read the Devon Franklin Book "The Hollywood Commandment".
